MUSKY HUNTERS! Cast For Show, Troll For Dough…..

This is the ticket! In the north country where it is found, the musky is a legend. When fishing conditions are not conducive to success, the musky can seem to be even more than its billing of “The Fish of 10,000 Casts.” But when conditions are right, big muskies seem to be everywhere. Is it really that hard to catch? A new breed of musky angler the musky hunter, has evolved. These fishermen seek muskies, and little else, and are effectively narrowing their time between musky […]

Nothing makes a Musky bigger than almost being caught! This article is about something I know to be true based on over 46 years of fishing for, and reading about musky fishing. It’s something I feel must be said! Some of what you are about to read might shock you! As with subjects like politics, entertainment, health, weather and anything else you can think of, there is and always will be people that feel they must say and write things, true or not true, just to make themselves feel important and to […]

1955 Leech Lake Musky Rampage

A MOMENT IN TIME: 1955 MUSKY RAMPAGE The Leech Lake musky Rampage was a two-week fishing extravaganza that began on Saturday, July 16, 1955. The exact number of muskies taken during this period is not known, but at least 163 fish from 18 to 42 pounds were recorded at Federal Dam alone and the rest of Leech Lake was hopping too. Leech Lake was crowned the “Musky Capital of the World” after the famous musky rampage during a hot spell in July 1955.  It was not until the […]

((104 INCH 110 LB )) MUSKY CAUGHT!

Is A 110 LB Musky-Fact or Fiction?  “This hoax was actually perpetrated in 1908. It is likely one of the greatest hoaxes in musky fishing history. Needless to say, it is far beyond the capability of the species’ growth.” In an article by Larry Ramsel,   author of two books on the subject of MUSKIES, notes that the image “actually turned out to be a 54 pound musky that had been speared and then a local photographer combined photos of that fish and two different men (above) […]

World Record Musky

The largest Muskellunge on record was caught by Louie Spray (pictured above) in the Chippewa Flowage (Hayward, Wisconsin, United States) on July 24, 1949. Is it possible for someone to catch a 70 pound musky? My answer to this question is a definite yes.  Most expert guides and other so called authorities  believe that there are a few swimming in our waters somewhere in the Great Lakes […]

If A Musky Could Think!

LOL…..LET THEM KEEP TRYING! THINK LIKE A MUSKY?? BETTER YET: IF A MUSKY COULD THINK? I wonder who really has the advantage, you or the Musky? To hear some want-to-be Musky Hunters, you would think that the elusive critter can actually think! Someone once said: “If they are dumb enough to eat off a hook, how can fish be considered “brain food?” Every living organism that lives on this earth has an ability to adapt to what ever is necessary to survive…..or better said it is called: Instinct or innate […]

Musky Mystique

Since the 1800’s there has been enough written about Musky fishing, you could fill a semi truck with it! Some is just hype or myth,  some straight out lies and a whole lot of good publications written by some of your better know Musky guides.  It’s  sometimes difficult to separate the truth from the B.S. Indeed the Musky is totally different than any other game fish on earth!  It is cunning, unpredictable in its habits and certainly the most difficult game fish to catch on our planet.  Can you […]
